baby clothes sizing?!

hello all!! baby boy is due in 3 months (jan 27 2024) and i have absolutely no idea the difference between 0-3 months clothing and 3 months clothing! i have no idea what to buy to be safe so i dont have to return a ton of clothes, what sizes did most of your babes fit into and how did you navigate this problem yourself?? thanks in advance for the help, we need it lol 😅

My advice is to go by the actual physical size and ignore the tags because each brand varies with how big that will actually be. 0-3 is newborn and 3 months they supposedly start wearing at 3 months. But most of my kids hardly wore their 0-3, maybe for 2-4 weeks, so get just a few things unless you know baby is measuring small or will be a preemie.

It also varies by brand, and if you buy used clothes, they may be stretched out a full size bigger. Honestly, it was a guessing game. If youre not afraid to dress baby in slightly big or slightly small clothes, then itll likely be okay

My baby was in NB for exactly 2 weeks before moving to 0-3. After that I’m not sure how long he was in each size. He’s 9.5M and his clothing sizes vary. He’s in some 9M, 12M and 12-18M. Don’t go by the size written on the clothing as every brand is different!

0-3 and 3 months are actually the same thing. 
0-3 = 3m
3-6 = 6m
6-9 = 9m
9-12 = 12m 
The actual size of the clothes will vary by brand, so it’s all kind of a crapshoot anyway.

Id buy newborn size and 0-3 months for the baby depending on its estimated weight .which is 9/10 just an estimate but unless its gonna be a baby over 8 and a half pound and really tall then the newborn size otherwise the newborn size is good my kids were 7.8 and 8 pound and i used newborn and 0-3 months but i feel the new born would of fit better just after birth but they grow into the 0-3 pretty fast but 3 months is gonna be to big for a newborn but its good to hold the bigger sizes for after the baby grows out of the 0-3 theres no exact time each baby weighs different and also grows at a different pace but hope this helps
