Birthday alone

Hi y’all, my boyfriend wants to spend his birthday alone. He said he’s booking a hotel for himself tonight. We don’t live together so I haven’t even seen him all day. While I get the concept (he wants to meditate and think on his life etc) I think we could have come to a compromise so I could have shown him my love and appreciation with a dinner or at least given him my gift or his birthday cake I made and he spent the day by himself. Am I being sensitive. I hate to be a dick on his birthday but we never even go on dates/book hotels together so it’s frustrating when he does that he wants to be alone. We do usually spend our day together as we run a business together, we have gone on dates in the past…just haven’t much this past year as we are busy. I spend the nights at his house 50/50. Just to update.
