Kids tablet recommendations?

I am trying to find tablets for my two children (both under 8 years old). I DO NOT want them to have access to the whole internet full time, although I would like Wi-Fi capabilities. They have an Amazon tablet that we download games on, and they have access to kids YouTube, and PBS kids videos.. but that tablet is so so slow, lags, crashes, and has very little storage.
