Paragard pregnancy!?!?

Question

I’ve been on the copper IUD for four years, my period was late by one week so I took two tests tonight. Both first response and clear blue digital came out positive. Any advice on what I should do? Husband and I have a four year old son and this was deferred not planned. He’s gone at work as he has a traveling job, and I have my college graduation next month. I want to ensure me and baby’s safety and definitely scared because of the IUD. I’m 23.

I also got pregnant with a Paragard IUD. It was such a shock! I went to urgent care for an emergency ultrasound to make sure the pregnancy was not ectopic and to check where the IUD was relative to the implantation location. Thankfully it wasn’t an ectopic pregnancy! The IUD was far away from the gestational sac so they ended up removing my IUD, but that decision is up to you and your doctor and depends on several factors. I would definitely recommend calling your GP as soon as you can, and, if possible, getting an ultrasound to rule out ectopic pregnancy. Sending positive vibes your way! 🙂
