A phone call appointment?! Trying to figure this out…

I found out about my pregnancy super early. At around 6 weeks I had an ultrasound because I wasn’t sure the start date of my last period. They dated the pregnancy, we saw the heartbeat, and scheduled my first OB appointment…which is a phone call today. I’m not sure what to expect for a phone call at 8 weeks? Then I guess my next question is, do we have another ultrasound between now and 20 weeks? To hear the heartbeat and make sure everything is as it should be? That gives me anxiety to think about since this is our rainbow…and we just saw the heartbeat at our 6 week ultrasound. I would have loved to hear it. With my other two kids we lived across the state and I had a different OB with a different plan of action that this one I’m seeing. So just wondering others experiences. Thanks!

I had a dating ultrasound at 8 weeks and the next one was at 20 weeks, but I also got an optional gender ultrasound through my OB’s practice at 16 weeks. Since it was optional it was $75 out of pocket, not too bad of a price.

I feel like this sucks because it depends on the practice but it’s like.. they get paid regardless, so if I wanted an ultrasound every week (if possible) to calm my nerves I’d hope my doctor would be nice and let me! 
My OB told me that every time I scheduled my next appointment, she said if I ever just wanted to come in to check something out before my appointment I could. 
No one wants to be more anxious while pregnant.

There really isn’t a reason to be seen in person at this early stage and there is no indication to do another ultrasound until 20 weeks

That’s how my office does them. I’ve had multiple miscarriages too. I still get some phone appts. They will ask info about family history, pregnancy history, etc

After my miscarriage, we had a an US to confirm at around 6 and then another US at 8 to calm my nerves, see progression. I was also high risk so ended up having a genetic US at 13 weeks, anatomy at 20 and then lots more US in the end to check size/fluid. But my OB has an US at their office so it’s easy to have them as needed. We did Doppler as early as they’re able to hear. We never listened to heartbeat on US.

Every OB is different, but mine did just 1 initial dating ultrasound and then no more until the nuchal translucency scan around 18 weeks. After the initial dating scan, they just do doppler to see that the baby is okay.
