Am I bad mom if I get an epidural?

I just watched one of my friends have a beautiful natural water birth it was incredible. I however am due this May and feel so guilty for planning a hospital birth and most likely having an epidural. I’m so nervous about birth and have no tolerance for pain. Am I bad mom already??

Being a mother has nothing to do with how the baby is born. It has everything to do with what kind of parent you are after the baby is born. That’s all that matters. Please don’t compare yourself and your experiences to anyone else and their experience. I had an epidural and an emergency c section, that doesn’t make me any less of a good mother than anyone who had a natural unmedicated birth.

You're not a bad mom at all! All of my births have been hospital births with an epidural. That doesn't make me a bad mom. I knew that I was safest in the hospital with my medical issues and the epidural was exactly what I needed for a positive and and joyful birth experience.

Huh? How do you equate an epidural to being a bad mom? No not at all. I don’t see why so many want to go natural… like what’s the point?

This anti-epidural trend seems very ableist to me. Women are allowed to manage their pain through medication. My only concerns right now are complications from epidurals so I'm going to research and ask questions to make sure it's the right thing for me. I'm due in June. I have a coworker who had complications from it so I'm wondering how common it is.

No lol. I dont understand how pain control for arguably one of the most painful things you as a woman can go through would make you a bad mom? You dont get a gold star for no having pain control lol. You also dont get a gold star for having pain control. The reward at the end is the baby. How it happens doesnt really matter honestly

Everyone has a plan, doesn’t mean you are a bad mom, my first, I tried to give birth naturally, came to getting a C-section
