Any tips for falling back in love with your partner after kids?
My partner and I have recently had our second bub (first is almost 2) and I am worried that we’re falling out of love which is the last thing I want.
We have very different parenting styles - not to say one is better than the other but navigating different approaches when you’re parenting together is really hard.
He can also be quite bossy when it comes to parenting and lots of things for that matter. Despite this, he’s a wonderful partner and father who I know would do anything for our family.
We have so little time these days - almost no time for ourselves let alone each other and I feel like all we do when we do have a moment is talk about the kids or argue about things.
Sometimes it feels like a bit of a competition - who’s got it worse? I can’t stand listening to him complain about his body/not getting to go to the gym as much as he used to or being tired because our toddler woke up once or twice through the night.
My body is destroyed from the two pregnancies, I haven’t been able to go to the gym or do something that’s just for me on any kind of regular basis since the first was born, and I’m up almost all night with our baby, not to mention all through the day too.
I can’t help but feel some resentment building and I don’t know what to do to nip it in the butt.
I heard my partner on a work call today telling a colleague that having two kids as opposed to one wasn’t so bad as he’d been sleeping well and for some reason it made me feel so shit because I honestly haven’t slept more than 2 consecutive hours since our bub was born 2 weeks ago… :(
