My bf puts pressure on me for how I dress/look.

My bf dresses well and I also think I do too. However, he’s always making side comments about his opinion on how I should dress.

For example: The other day I left work early to be able to go axe-throwing on a triple date. He said “make sure to not dress too business-y”. I was just wearing black pants, a plain top, and a nice coat and felt self-conscious about my outfit the whole night.

He’s also referred many times to the fact that his mom always dresses nice/wears makeup every day at home, even if she’s not going out, and that it would be nice if I could do the same in the future. I’m sorry, but I work 6-8 nine hour days in a row and on my one day off, I cannot be bothered to put in extra effort on my days off/when I’m home.

As a result of these comments I always feel like I’m not enough and that he has unrealistic expectations.
