Is this a red flag

I've been dating this guy for a little bit and he randomly opened up to me about something I personally find strange. We were talking about our anxiety and he said that if he's ever in a confrontation or argument with someone he records the conversation or arguments he records them so when he calms down he can listen to them to see if he was wrong or if he was right and being gaslit because he claims his parents and ex girlfriend used to gaslight him all the time. He will also sometimes show his therapist if he can't decide. I guess I find it weird to secretly record a conversation between you and someone else. I've never heard of someone doing that. I guess if he really wanted to hide it he could have just not told me but I do find that strange.

@NarWhalsAreReal where we live it's a one party consent law so only one person has to consent to being recorded which would be him.
