My boyfriend of a year moved in with myself and my children, he works away and is only here a few weeks out of the month, his two sons also live here when he is home. He has an owned home in a different city he is fixing up and trying to sell, so he has expenses on that front, but for our shared home I pay the rent, I pay all the utilities and associated bills, other than he sometimes pays for a grocery haul when he is home.

We are planning a wedding and buying a house in the spring, as well as expecting a child together.

I'm now on illness leave because of this pregnancy and I'm feeling now more than ever the financial strain. Should I be asking him to help pay the bills?

I have conflicting feelings in the first place having to even ask that, like we live together, it should be shared regardless, right?
