Hives after a viral infection… ?

My daughter was sick over Christmas with what I believe was the flu. Now she’s having hives and what looks like raised skin (especially when she itches it) it’s not bad but her being only 7 she can’t control herself. Google says it’s an immune response after a viral load and that it will go away after a week or two. Anyone have any insight on this?

I give her Zyrtec, it helps with the symptoms while we wait to get in with her doctor.
