Hi! My grandma is 76 as of yesterday, has dementia and has been diagnosed for the last 7 years but as of lately it’s gotten super super bad. For the last two weeks, shes been off the walls. She doesn’t sleep, will eat anything in front of her, & has been having really bad hallucinations. (saying she has a horse in her living room, waving and talking to nonexistent kids on the couch, and thinks we’re all out to get her, 2 days ago she’s even walked outside at night with her nightgown on with her pillow & blanket in her hand saying “she’s going to her sisters” fyi her sister died when she was 20 ) and I must add she’s super super mean now. My grandma has had two mental breakdowns within the last week about not wanting to sleep because “something is wrong” or “she’s scared”. This seems a bit weird to say but my mom thinks my grandma won’t sleep because she thinks she’s at the end of her road with life and she knows it. Has anyone with dementia gone through any of this and their loved one has passed on soon after?
