3 days postpartum breasts pumping help ?!!

Question

I’m 3 days postpartum I’ve been trying to nurse my baby every 2 hours but he only will feed about 10 min so I decided to also try and pump . My breasts are 10 times bigger than normal and rock hard and painful but no milk coming out even with 20 min pumping and trying to hand express !! I’m I. So much pain idk what to do . Any advice how do I get the milk out

Do not pump. This will make everything worse just latch baby. Your milk coming in is not just milk it’s also tissue swelling and the more you pump on top of nursing the worse it will be. Just latch not pumping. Pumping isn’t advised until 6wks at the earliest

So it is honestly to early to pump and nurse as it can cause an over supply. However if you not responding to the pump the flanges on the pump may be to big or to small. It is very common for more woman to have an incorrect size. You will need to measure your nipples with a ruler.
For now I would suggest a Hakka you can put it on the opposite side of that the baby isn’t feeding on and it will catch your let down from the other boob. With my kids if I needed extra relief but didn’t want to pump I would create a letdown on my boobs by massage them a little bit a little squeeze. That normally did the trick.

This is normal. It’s the proper milk coming in where it changes from colostrum. You don’t need to pump. Just let baby nurse. Newborns will only eat about 5-7ml at each feed because their stomach is really tiny. In about a week you will have proper milk and produce about 50-60ml with both breasts. 
Offer baby both breasts at each feed. To help with the pain take ibuprofen and use a warm compress. It helped me. I only had the hardness and pain for 24hours but it can last up to 3 days I’ve been told.
