Boyfriend drama

My 2 year anniversary is coming up with my boyfriend on the 16th of this month. To give some background info I was born here in california and he’s from Mexico. Everytime we go out im usually the one that plans where to go or I look up places to go to. I sometimes ask him to pick a place because I’m always the one making decisions and he doesn’t ever want to because he “doesn’t know places where to take me”. For our anniversary I really want him to find a restaurant for us. I told him that I don’t know any good fancy restaurants and he told me he doesn’t either that he only knows places with seafood which I don’t like. I told him that “well that’s why u can look online and find good restaurants”. Then he got mad at me and said that I want to do everything separate that why does he have to look for a restaurant. But am I in the wrong for the wanting him to look for a restaurant for us? I don’t understand what I’m doing wrong.
