Having and trying for a baby when you are still living with your parents? What are your thoughts?

If you are an adult over 18 and both the parents have part time jobs then is it still ok to try for a baby in that conditions if they want kids now? And it would be better if the guy lived on his own. Is it ok to try if you want a baby but still living with your parents? Or you need to be independent?

If you cant support yourself, you cant support a child. Its selfish and irresponsible to bring a child into the world when you know you cant provide for them.

It's very irresponsible to have a child when you can't even support yourself! Give a child a good start to life and don't make them another statistic. It's best to wait until you both have full time jobs, live together in your own place, have an emergency fund, medical insurance, dental, 3-6 months of living expenses, and are able to fully support a child. It costs an average of $21,000 PER YEAR to raise a child. Not to mention child care! It costs an average of $18,000-$36,000 PER YEAR for daycare depending on where you live. You need to be able to afford that. Formula, food, diapers (we spend $300 a month on diapers and wipes), carseats, a reliable car, cribs, strollers, clothes, medicine, doctors appointments, ect. It's very expensive and it would end up falling on your parents to provide because you won't be able to. It's irresponsible and wrong. You're not.in a place where you can do that and it would be unfair and selfish to everyone around you including a baby.

The responsible thing would be to move out and get your own place. When my husband and I lived with my parents, I couldn’t imagine trying for a baby and raising one under their roof. They certainly wouldn’t have liked it being that we were adults, saving for our own place and it’s their house. To have had a crying, new born baby in their home I think would have disrespectful on our part.

I’d wait until both of you are financially stable & secure full time jobs. You’re 18, you barely got to enjoy yourself! Lol. I know it seems like everyone around you is happy & welcoming babies, I see it everywhere too! But with a baby it is a lifetime commitment & responsibility, they’re not cute little babies forever. I had my first at 20, and I struggled! With childcare fees, finding sitters so I could work when daycare wasn’t an option. I couldn’t do things I wanted to do, like travel or even go out to a bar with friends! When I did, I felt guilty lol. Couldn’t sleep in anymore or stay up late 🤣 I know these seem like little things but trust me you’ll miss it. 🥲 You have a lot of time to welcome a child, but living with your parents & not being on your own yet isn’t the time to do it.

I think it’s more important to be on your own, able to support yourself in a child, rather than be living at home and inconveniencing your parents. I would rather be the responsible adult be able to support myself and a child, and being in a better financial situation, rather than be struggling and not able to provide for my child. Having a baby doesn’t make your life easier, a complicates it more. I would talk to your parents, see what they say, I’m 18 or however, old you are, I feel like I really want to have a baby, would you support me in that still living here at home or would you rather me be out on my own before I think about having children. It’s up to them, it’s their wallet, it’s their lack of sleep, it’s their support, it’s their willingness to be of service to you. Not every parent wants to jump on that bandwagon and be a parent all over again because you’re not feeling well and they have to pick up the slack or would rather be retired and not have to start all over again with the children in the house. It’s one thing when you’re 40. It’s another thing when you’re 60. The responsibility, the lack of sleep, staying up all night when they’re sick, And when you’re 60 you would rather be retired and relaxed and traveled and lived your life. They are the ones you should be asking, but if it was me, I would not want to inconvenienced them unless they are on board. I would never imagine having a child at 18 or even 20, I would rather be established with my life, have a career, a responsible partner, that if I didn’t work, he would be able to hold down the household expenses. Not be struggling to make ends meet. ￼
