Low hcg successful pregnancy

Hi everyone. Has anyone ever experienced hcg levels drop to a negative result but still have a successful and healthy pregnancy? Two weeks ago I got a positive, went to the dr early bc my lines turned from faint to negative. Bloodwork showed my hcg was 2.8 and the doc said I was never pregnant. Took another test today because I don’t believe that and got a vvvfl. I plan on retesting in the morning with a digital. Just wondering if anyone’s ever gone through this
