Boss scheduled me to be shadowed. What do I do?

My boss scheduled me to be shadowed after I had some missteps and told her I was overwhelmed. It’s for 3 hours but I’m worried I won’t have enough work to do and I’m not sure what to do to keep busy. Any advice?
I’m trying to come up with things to do but I’m blanking. Anything I could do like get paperwork done isn’t relevant to my job. My job is to answer emails and input things emailed to me in a system and I’m lucky if in my 3 hour shadowing I get 10 emails and 1 order.

I think their argument is, if you dont have a lot of work demand, why are you overwhelmed and making mistakes? Im not sure what you can do....organize files? Review notes? Not sure.

Do you have other tasks and responsibilities that you should be taking care of? You shouldn’t just keep busy, you should be being productive

How are you overwhelmed if you yourself know you can't even keep busy for a few hours?

Just do your job? But im with others. From the sounds of it you dont even have a lot of work to keep you busy considtantly throughout your shift so what are you getting overwhelemed over to the point of messing up so much or so bad that youre having to be watched?

You don’t need to stay busy. Just concentrate on what your tasks are and get them done correctly and in a timely manner. As a supervisor I understand that work loads change depending on the month and I don’t ever penalize my employees for lack of work, but they still need to stay focused when work does come in. 
If there is “downtime” maybe review some of your work or any documents concerning your job.

I think you can explain to the person who shadows you that you were overwhelmed the last few weeks, but now that it's much slower you are in a much better place and you are planning on asking for more work today.
