So for those unaware of the science of it, plan B is basically a mega dose of synthetic progesterone. (Progestin is the chemical form of the natural hormone known as progesterone) and progesterone is actually something drs will give women to boost fertility because in after conception your body will start making that hormone to help a fertilized egg implant.

However, a mega dose of progestin BEFORE ovulation will delay or prevent ovulation. This is why plan B is recommended immediately after sex, so that the chances of that egg being released decreases significantly and the idea is that if you had sex and your about to ovulate then sperm will never meet egg. And if you think about it notice how hard it is to get pregnant for those trying. (I’m not trying rn but I’m very familiar with the TTC process) so taking plan b is of course effective because what are the odds your gonna need it at exactly your fertile window. Most of us just take it when at risk not necessarily at risk AND in the fertile window.

Maybe this is why Plan b is explained to be more a cover your bases thing and not to be used as birth control.

So MY question is, can plan B actually end up backfiring on you if you’ve already ovulated? Is that why they explicitly say it’s not an abortion pill and won’t harm an established pregnancy? (Perhaps withholding the information that it could benefit one lol) I didn’t take plan b till the 3rd day due to finances and I looked into my fertility only to discover in horror my best ovulation days were the day of the BD and the day after. Now I’m wondering if plan b mighta ended up helping the maybe baby stick.

Won’t know for a few more days yet but the symptoms are driving me mad. They’re similar to pregnancy because it’s one of the same damn hormones lol

So now my thought is, if you THINK you could get pregnant and possibly already ovulated definitely don’t take plan b? Lol

I know I’m putting too much thought into this but I need to think of I’m gonna go crazy lol
