Patch to Pill - when will spotting stop?

Hi everyone, so long story short, I was on Tri-Sprintec (combo pill), but my doctor started me on the Twirla Patch - the patch gave me side effects. Rash, paranoia, exhaustion, and I started experiencing break through bleeding during the second week of the patch.

My doctor switched me back onto Tri-Sprintec, because of the side effects, and said it should also stop the spotting, but I am still having break through bleeding that is dark brown. Has anyone else experienced this and how long does it take for the breakthrough bleeding to stop?
