Am I Overthinking or making more effort??

My somewhat new guy hasn't made much effort in a while to text good morning or good night first. I see when he's active on social media. He used to but hasn't in a while. I finally sent a "hi" text this afternoon! Like WTF! He told me he's going night hunting with his buddy. I was only calling I'm out on his recent lack of effort. Nothing to do with his kids he only had today. Is he trying to turn this on me or am I overthinking it? Not sure why he said he was busy and couldn't text me when I text bc I hadn't earlier today.
