Preterm labor?

does anyone know what can cause a preterm labor? Any things to avoid? Has anyone ever had any personal experiences with anything sending them?

I done everything as I should in my pregnancy , ate the right foods, took the right vitamins, had an appropriate amount of excersies and rest etc. despite all of this I still went into spontaneous early labour at 33 weeks last week. Sometimes baby just decides when they want to make their appearance and we can’t do anything to prevent it xxx

I had it when i was 25 weeks with our first and only. I had no idea what was happening as i thought i was just experiencing braxton hicks that afternoon but by that night it shifted to my lower back and butt. Before i knew it walking hurt! I tried to ignore it but right before i went to bed i had this feeling to call l&d so i did. At first the nurse straight up told me its sounded like contractions but dont come in until i felt them get closer. I had no experience with pregnancy so i was going to take her advice. Right before we hung up she asked "how many weeks are you honey?" And i told her. The tone of her voice went from reassuring to worried and told me to come to the hospital immediately. When i got there the nurse i spoke to had my room already set up and put me on the monitors. I indeed was having contractions that were starting to come closer which freaked my nurse and dr out. They gave me a pill, a huge cup of ice water and a shot in the back of my arm that burned so bad. Dh and i had attempt to have sex the night before but didnt get very far lol and the dr said that is what most likely did it. I was put on pelvic/bed rest for 2 weeks.
