Unbiased opinion needed.Was I in the wrong?

Back story:My friends boyfriend would always make comments regarding her speaking about me.She would always say ignore him,he’s lying or he’s joking.It never sit well with me,but I would let it slide

Last summer,while we were on the phone.He asked who she was speaking too.She hesitated,and told him it was me.Is response was

“I thought you were going to get rid of her”

Again,I stayed on the phone confused and again brushed it off.

Fast forward a month ago …her 11 year old daughter was commenting on her speaking about her friends,and then in turn said she was just talking about me,saying I was annoying.Again she was like don’t listen to girl,she confused what I said when switching to your call.From that day I should have kept my distance,but we have been friends so long it was hard to do.

The friend in question has friend that stopped talking to her out of the blue.The friend recently reached out because she needed help with something.Because what my friends daughter said about her was still bothering me,I asked my friend why she stopped talking to her.She mentioned the same issue of my friends boyfriend saying disrespectful things to her.

I told the ex-friend what I was feeling.She kind of confirmed that yes she indeed would say things about me.she didn’t want to tell me at first but I insisted.

I discovered not only was this person talking about me.She even lied about some things.

I was so angry,I confronted my friend about what she did,and know she on social media saying that I “Congregated with her enemy to talk about her”I am now wishing I never asked the exfriend about there falling out and what she said about me.My friends say I shouldn’t feel bad.It was meant to happen that what.
