What should I expect at my appt?

I am almost 9 weeks pregnant with my first baby and finally have my first appointment coming up. I am very excited but also nervous. I am wondering what I should expect. Also, I am curious if anyone knows when doctors offices are able to tell you the gender through a blood test? I know that has changed it recently years

You could expect an US to hear a heart beat and for dating purposes. Blood tests aren’t typically recommended until at least 10 weeks so most providers schedule it during your second appointment.

I would expect to hear a heartbeat and also just mentally prepare that they may do an internal ultrasound if the abdominal one isn’t picking things up up good enough. They also will usually give you your EDD and mine gave me a list of pregnancy safe medicine in case of things like a cold, constipation etc. My OB suggested to wait until 11 weeks to do the NIPT test but I do know some OBS are ok to take it at 10 weeks.
