Ever had someone tell you to stay single and never get married?

I once had a neighbor tell my mom to never let me get married back in February of this year. The neighbor urged me to stay single as long as I can. The poor lady had a POS husband who would beat her. I have never had an in-person relationship with a man in my 26 years of life. Never had intercourse with a man in addition. I've onnly had LDRs as I wasn't allowed to date in high school so I kept those secret from a lot of people for that reason alone.
