Rude customers

This is my sister's story but I thought I should share.

When she was working she got approached by another waitress that said "Your busser just spilled water on someone."

Turned out later the woman pushed the plate forward and it was she who tipped the glass over and spilled water on herself and her phone.

The high-school busser (F16) was apologizing profusely and the woman shooed her away. My sister apologized and asked if there was anything she could do. The woman just kept repeating "I'm soaked".

My sister talked to the manager and he offered free deserts and told my sister he would apologize and would personally hand them the check with a discount at the end of the night.

My sister comes back, ask if there's anything she can do, tells her about the free deserts and the woman yells that she wants free drinks. After talking to the manager they inform her they cannot give free alcohol, so she asks for salads and extra stuff.

Manager reluctantly agrees but then he hears the woman yelling across the restaurant to the bar tender to not put so much ice, she's being disrespectful so he tells my sister he will not apologize like he had intended to, since she's disrespecting his wait staff. For the rest of the night she is rude and gives them attitude and my sister knows she's not getting tipped. Here's the receipt she found when she went to clean up, the lady says if she "had gotten an apology" she would've blah blah blah.

My sister said they did nothing but apologized even though SHE spilled the water herself. She's asking me if there was maybe a better way to handle things where the lady would have been happy. I think not!

I've never been in the service industry but for all of you who are, you're total rockstars. I hope you have more positive experiences than bad ones.

Oh! She also told my sister she was reviews and to expect a really nasty one.

UPDATE: She wrote her review but obviously ommited the fact that SHE spilled the water herself, that she rudely yelled across the room at the bartender, that she was disrespectful towards the waitstaff and in fact she actually did get multiple apologies, why else did she get a discount plus free stuff?
