Why can't people be kind without exploiting it?

I was at CVS not too long ago and I saw this man. Maybe in his late 20's early 30's arguing with the pharmacist. He kept saying he doesn't have the $50 to pay for his medication and was screaming he needs them. He doesn't know what is real and what isn't anymore and he's scared. That they will take his kids if he doesn't stay medicated. He was having a whole breakdown. If I had the $50 I would have paid for it but someone was recording him having this breakdown and went up to him saying he wants to pay for his medication. I could tell just by looking at the guy he didn't want to be recorded in that state but was grateful he paid. Then this guy told him all he asks for in return is he follows him on tiktok and walks away and starts talking to his tiktok audience about the importance of mental health and kindness. 
I'm sorry. I really don't think it's acceptable to record someone having a hard time in a vulnerable moment to post it just because you do something nice for them. It just comes off as exploitative. Why can't people do good deeds without needing the recognition of people online? I'm sure that man doesn't want his break down all over the Internet? Maybe I'm just negative. How do you feel about people doing this?

I've yet to witness this in real life, but the day I do... Gonna have an earful for the person recording. Do you really think this is appropriate? Honestly. Negates every *nice* thing you're trying to do.

I agree, I do random acts of kindness all the time for people. I was in the post office one day, and a ladies debit card kept getting declined, it was like two dollars for an envelope that she was buying and some stamps I think or something like that no biggie, and I paid for it, I didn’t ask for anything in return, I didn’t take a picture of her and put it online or anything else. I do stuff like that all the time, I’ve never asked for any sort of recognition. . If people do it, so they can look online that just kind of defeats the purpose of it being a random act of kindness. Otherwise it’s just I’m paying for views and for followers. . I volunteer all the time I volunteered 25 years in a community college. Helping students do their financial aid and registering, working with international students, helping helping with festivals, or community outreach events and whatever else they had going on. It was just something we’ve done since childhood. And honestly, that was a horrible thing to do to that man videotape him while he was having a breakdown like that. The guy could’ve gotten aggressive with him and he’s lucky he didn’t. Yes it’s nice that he paid but not nice that he did it for the reasons that he did.

I do random kind things all the time. I’ve bought homeless people and their dogs food from McDonald’s as I went through the drive through because they were sitting there and looked hungry. Never have I ever videoed any of it and posted it. That’s just disgusting behavior. That’s not being kind that’s just blasting everyone else’s bad times and trying to make yourself look good cause you’re (who ever does that) in a better spot in life. How gross of people to do.

And the elephant in the room is that the pharmaceutical industry is the biggest exploiter of all. These are legal drug dealers just banking off victims they've purposely made addicted to drugs when there are natural remedies available to us, but they try their hardest to keep us dumbed down to continue profiting at our expense. Sad.

I don’t understand why people record their good deeds it’s honestly kinda cringe. I’m pretty sure some going through a mental breakdown don’t want to be recorded as well as someone who is homeless. It’s disgusting that people basically exploit them for their own personal gain. 
I was always raised to help people and do good deeds rather it was for someone less fortunate or just out of the kindness of my heart. I would NEVER record it though. Especially for personal gain. 
Here’s a perfect story about that.
My local goodwill is possibly the WORST goodwill ever.
A few years ago me my mom and sister was thrift shopping and a man walks in fresh from the ER after a motorcycle accident. He had NO shoes (walked about 3-4 miles from hospital to goodwill) he had no shirt and his pants was ripped and cut from sliding on the road and the emts, he had lost his wallet in the mist of being thrown from him motorcycle. He ASKED VERY POLITELY the manager at goodwill if he could have a shirt and shoes, wasn’t worried about jeans he just wanted a shirt and shoes. Now someone with a genuine heart like my mother would have gave it to him but the manager was a bitch. My mom cussed her out for being a shitty human, these are DONATED clothes yall! And the manager wouldn’t give him anything! He even asked if there was stuff they were throwing away and she said he couldn’t have that either! Again my mom cussed her out told her how shitty she was and proceeded to BUY him clothes! He was very grateful and almost in tears watching my mom stand her ground for him. 
There was a lot of people in there. Not ONE person recorded the incident. Not a single soul said “hey let me record this to get views and be famous for a day” 
That would have got a LOT of views. My mom never wanted views, the people that was in there helping find his size and asking to pitch money in, never wanted views or a following. 
They just wanted to HELP. There needs to be More people like my mom(rip🕊️) and the people that was also helping.

I agree with you, I believe it’s morally wrong to do a good deed for attention purposes. 
On the bright side, the person who was being recorded might have very well thought it wasn’t real, and in his case even though the guy who donated the money did it unethically, the good outweighs the bad.

Agreed! Random act of kindness should make us feel good about ourselves for helping others sure but you don’t need everyone to tell you how great you are.. like if you are giving to get something in return other than just happiness for helping someone in need then you are wrong.. pretty sure it says in the Bible even to never let your left hand know what your right hand is doing.. as in.. give without looking for acknowledgement from others ect
