Bassinet or Bedside Crib?

I’m expecting my second baby. My first didn’t want to sleep in the bassinet and we ended up co-sleeping. This second time around I think I want to stick to having my baby close to me bedside but not on my bed because we’re full with my toddler still sleeping with us. Do any of you have any product recommendations. I also don’t want to buy a bassinet if my baby can only sleep in it the first 6 months. I’d like something where he could sleep in longer but be close by.
