IUD pregnancy
Hey ladies! I am newly pregnant roughly around 5 weeks 4 days by gestational sac measurement… definitely could change! Anyhow… welcome to my story. I had the paragard IUD for close to 2 years. My cycles have always been wonky with the IUD and could go anywhere from 21-48 days. This recent cycle I was only 1 day “late” from my projected start date of my period. The last few days prior I had been feeling “off” compared to how I usually feel before my period begins. I was having constant and lingering headaches, really sore boobs, and just overall I did not feel right. I decided to grab a test thinking there is absolutely no way that test was going to be positive. Well within seconds of peeing on it the darkest line began to show followed by the next line, it was honestly a dye stealer instantly. I scheduled an immediate appointment for the next day with my OB due to knowing increased risks of becoming pregnant with an IUD. We did an ultrasound and the IUD was in PERFECT TEXTBOOK position with a gestational sac lying right next to the IUD. We did ultimately make the decision to remove the IUD and continue to monitor my HCG betas frequently. My first draw was on 05/28 and it was 2126, my second draw was 05/29 and it came back at 4631, third draw was 05/30 and it came back at 5081, and finally my fourth draw was today 05/31 and it came back a beautiful 10,863. I’m not sure why we did one every 24 hours when the normal is 48-72. I’m assuming because the gestational sac was empty so the pregnancy was still considered in an “unknown location” and the risks of ectopic pregnancy when falling pregnant with an IUD is higher. I am definitely starting to feel the symptoms of that beta for sure. The nausea and exhaustion has begun which scares me because I had HG with both of my kiddos. This pregnancy came to us as a HUGE shock, and honestly we are still processing. Our youngest is not quite 2 yet, and we were not planning on another for maybe 2-4 more years. I know life has a way of working out exactly how it’s supposed to, so I am learning to except this pregnancy. If you have read this far, thank you! Anybody else become pregnant with an IUD? How did it go for you?
Xx ❤️
