Was the waitress being weird to me in front of my boyfriend ?

I (22f) and my boyfriend (27f) went to an english breakfast last week. We go to the gym frequently and whenever it’s cardio day I dont know why but my appetite is so much more bigger than usual. Normally, I eat about one or two substantial meals but after cardio (35 minutes, high intensity on stairmaster) I’ll eat double and a lot more snacks. I think it stems down to having done swimming competitively from the age of 4 for 15 years and how my appetite was during.

Fast forward to last week me and my boyfriend went to an English breakfast place and i had ordered an English breakfast, and pancakes for after, and he had ordered an English breakfast with extra meat. Upon me asking for pancakes, the waitress asked if I was sure and I said yes I always have room first dessert smiling, if not i’ll still have a little gap before the pancakes come and she said okay. After we finished the english, she came again and took our plates and asked when we’d like our pancakes and I said in about 15 mins or so and she asked me again if I was sure that I wanted them. I said yes, don’t worry. 10 minutes later she comes again and asks would i like the pancakes and I said yes, there was an awkward silence and my boyfriend now asks if I was sure and I said, irritated now because my boyfriend decided to put his two pence in rather than reaffirming to the waitress that i’d have the pancakes, yes ill have this what is this all about. She trys to back track saying that it is a lot of food to eat but she admires that I can eat that much and then my boyfriend adds “but are you sure though, with the waitress still standing there waiting for my answer, despite me saying yes 3 times. I say yes quietly and she puts the order through and the pancakes come 10 minutes later.

After the meal, I asked him why he didn’t defend me and he said that he didn’t think what the waitress was saying was weird or condescending and that he didn’t want me to waste food or be sick. I reply by saying, that I said yes several times and she didn’t take my word for it so it would have been better if you had come to my defence as I felt quite shamed and even if i didn’t finish it I would have asked for a take away box.
