Would you feel hurt if someone said they couldn't date because of religion?

It's my coworker! We went on a couple of dates and found out he doesn't know much about Jesus or the Bible. This is a huge thing for me in dating. I am not sure how to tell him that I want my kids to be taught the bible by my future husband, and marry someone who loves Jesus more than me that he believes and follows Him more than he loves and follows me. I would also tell him that I don't want him to change himself if he truly doesn't have an interest to believe and follow Jesus and the Bible because that would be wrong. I would ask if we can still be friends and say for what it is worth, I really like him. If he naturally comes to love Jesus and following his words in the Bible, that I would date him in a heartbeat. If I said the truth of why we couldn't date, would you personally feel offended or hurt?

Definitely okay. I am Muslim and I knew I would never marry someone that wasn’t a good Muslim cause I needed my kids to have a strong Islamic background and a united family religion wise. So yes, you are doing everything right. I love the fact that you are not blinded by love or anything when it comes to really what you are looking for in building a family. These things lead to divorce eventually and if there are kids involved, it becomes even more complicated.

You’ve been on a couple dates. Just tell them you’re not interested. I think you’re thinking way too much about this. 
To answer “would you be hurt?” Personally, no. I’m definitely not interested in anyone who is that intensely religious, so this would not bother me. The two of you are obviously not good matches.

I mean probably but i would rather you tell me from.thr beginning than lead me on over the course multiple dates. This is seriously something you should have said BEFORE the first date, or at the very least during the first date. Religion is a serious thing for some people and you are obviously one of those people. If that is a deal breaker for you then he needs to know now so that yiu can both find the right person.

Breakups usually hurt to some degree, but it’s way better to be told the truth when you know it won’t work. Incompatible religious beliefs are a big deal breaker for many people.

Religious reasons aren’t reasons to get hurt or offended in my opinion, since they’re deeply rooted values. However, it is possible that your coworker one day converts to Christianity. He may have never been introduced to Christianity in his life…… and if you ever marry, I don’t see why there would be a problem with making the kids religious. Not everyone who says they’re Christians are good Christians either. He may be more of a saint than someone sitting in church. I wouldn’t break up with him before the relationship started.
