9w 5d Swelling?

I had my first ultrasound today and I was told there was a lot of swelling around the baby’s head. Dr says they can’t tell anything until next ultrasound or genetic testing. What does this mean!??? Trying not to freak out but it just seemed weird how she kept talking about getting the genetic testing done. (And I don’t think it was for the money because she told me how to get it cheap)

Shea probably talking about nuchal translucency and it’s the space between baby’s head and spinal cord. Typically done between 11-13 weeks. The space looks a little larger than normal but I am not an ultrasound tech, I’m a nurse. The radiology techs are trained to read and measure, that’s most important, the space. Doctor will read the scans and confirm findings with you. I wouldn’t be concerned until the testing is actually done. Have you done NIPT testing for chromosomal abnormalities like Down syndrome ?

Id get the genetic testing! Are they doing a 12/13 week scan? Itll check for excess fluids.

I am not exactly sure about the swelling but because they did mention it I would definitely get the genetic testing. I have to get it as well due to being 35 but it can’t hurt as it’s blood work that can give you more information
