ER possibly wrong?

Hey! Just need some advice on how to relax after last weeks ER visit! Went into er at (5+1) due to come cramping on left side (history of two ectopics) hcg was 8,000. Went back two days later, hcg was 18,000 and they did an ultrasound confirming sac is in the right spot and yolk sac was there but no baby. The DR told me to prepare for a miscarriage? I somewhat feel like that’s incorrect or too early to see the fetal pole? Or am I just wrong?

That is too early to make an assumption you will have a miscarriage. I see so many people going to the ER and they tell them this, when they are that early.

It’s too early. 
The er is really the worst place for anything pregnancy related (unless ectopic or hemorrhaging). I get why you went but take what they say with a grain of salt.

I went to the hospital at 5 weeks & 2 days to also be checked for ectopic due to fevers & severe cramping on one side. There was  gestational sac, but no embryo. HCG was around 9,800. I didn’t get repeat bloodwork, but I had a repeat ultrasound 2.5 weeks later & everything was perfect. If your HCG is rising as it should, they can’t say to expect a miscarriage that early because they don’t see an embryo yet. I’d call your OB & set up a repeat ultrasound for 2-3 weeks out to confirm viability.

ERs aren’t reliable for pregnancy issues unless it turns into something like an ectopic or they can do an ultrasound and see baby with no heartbeat easy. I’ve had ERs tell me on their own that they aren’t very equipped for pregnancy. So I wouldn’t really trust it until you can get a further scan at your OB

Way too early for him to say that. Baby is only about the size of a chocolate chip, that’s hard to see on an ultrasound bed if not impossible.
