Advice on getting off the pill
I started taking the pill at 17 (now 24). I like taking the pill because it helped regulate my period and always made me feel safe when having sex, however, I believe it’s time for me to get off the pill. Even though I’ve had positives, I also had many negatives. For example, my hormonal acne got worse after being on it, I gained weight, and it made me more depressed. (Before, I had more anxiety than depression). In general, I think it’s time for me to move on or even try something new.
I would like to get off the pill completely and possibly get a copper IUD. However, the pill has been my security blanket for safe sex. I get extremely anxious about the thought of getting pregnant, and my doctor told me that switching to the copper iud instantly might be intense on my body. I already use condoms, but I still want a second option. I would love to hear someone’s experience with switching, getting off the pill and any advice/recommendations. Thank you 🩷!!!
