late diagnosed gestational diabetes?

B✨

I’m 33 weeks and since about 29 weeks, I’ve had episodes of dizziness, spotty vision, shaking, nausea, and pressure in the head. To the point I can’t stand and need to lay down the rest of the day. My OB wasn’t worried when I first brought it up because I didn’t have high BP but a few days ago I ended up in L&D because it was happening every day and I was frankly scared. They said same thing, no high BP so no need to be there and sent me to ER. Blood tests showed my sodium was very low so I have started drinking electrolytes twice a day but I don’t feel much better.

I went to my high risk doctor yesterday who I’ve been seeing because the baby has been measuring off the charts for a while. He’s still large (6.8 lbs at 33 weeks) and I mentioned what had been happening. She felt like I needed to get a glucose monitor because of big baby and the symptoms so she ordered one. My fasting glucose level was 116 this morning and to my knowledge that is not good. 🫣

But I’m worried about bringing this up to my OB because my high risk doctor has mentioned in the past concern of insulin resistance and when I told him he said “well that’s normal” and didn’t feel it was necessary to look into. Honestly I’m tired of people telling me things are normal when they’re not - this is my fourth baby and I know when something is wrong. Is it possible to develop GD later in a pregnancy?
