My boyfriend has autism so he doesn't always pick up social cues which can lead to a lot of embarrassment for me. My boyfriend started dying his hair and getting it done at the salon that I go to. My stylist is a smoker and she will take a break from doing my hair to go smoke and then come back. I don't smoke but grew up around smokers so it doesn't bother me too much. My boyfriend went there once and he didn't like that she went to smoke because he does not like the smell of cigarettes. When he went back yesterday I was with him and when he was blow drying she said she was going to take a smoke break and be right back. My boyfriend said "I'm not trying to be rude, but the smell of cigarettes really makes me sick. Could you please smoke after you finish my hair." My stylist apologized and said of course. I was so embarrassed! I went off on my boyfriend in the car on how rude that is and he kept defending his actions by saying he doesn't like someone who just smoked to come back and touch his hair and face.
