Is Unisom really safe to take???

Keely 🤰🏼(14w)

So I’m 6w/2d and my nausea is out of control. I can’t get through my day. I’m an IVF patient so when I started estrogen and progesterone I started getting morning sickness symptoms even though I wasn’t pregnant yet and my UVF doc prescribed me Zofran (ondansetron), which is supposed to okay to take while pregnant (it’s FDA Catagory B), but I’ve found out there’s a Danish study that shows using it could increase the possibility of cleft pallet and heart defects. So I’m not comfortable taking it.

From my research, it looks like Diclegis (doxylamine succinate & pyridoxine hydrochloride-aka Vitamin B6) is a better choice as an anti-nausea option for pregnant women as it is a FDA Category A medication. I’ve been seeing it pop up in places (pregnancy forums mostly) that pregnant women have been told by their doctors that Diclegis is basically Unisom (doxylamine succinate) & Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine hydrochloride) mixed together, and that if they can’t afford the prescription (cuz I guess it’s a bit pricey from what I hear?) to just buy Unisom and a vitamin B6 supplement and it’s basically the same thing. (Except for that I guess Diclegis is formulated as a time released formula, so with the Unisom/vitamin B6 combo you have to take it a couple of times in a day to get the same kinda consistent relief.

TLDR bottom line: Does anyone here have experience with taking Unisom & vitamin B6 for morning sickness? Is it safe? And what did your doctor recommend you do?

Thanks ladies, I left a message for my doc today and they never called me back, so I’m just going crazy waiting for the doctors to call me and I can’t take it. I need some insight from my fellow mommas!
