Puss filled bump in pubic area

I noticed a bump on my lady area just where the hair grows. I squeezed it and a lot of puss came out. Not bothering me at all otherwise though it was slightly sore like some pimples are before i popped it. Seems like an ingrown hair and i did shave down there recently when i dont usually. Am i right in making this assumption? Or do i need to get checked out? I'm just paranoid as i have a new sexual partner and we've had unprotected sex.
