Anyone have/had gestational diabetes?

Just wondering if/how it affected your pregnancy and what you had to do to help it. I had to do the 3 hour glucose test since my first test was high and my results for the 3 hour test were elevated as well.

I had to eat pretty much keto the entire pregnancy, time my meals and exercise to make sure my sugars stayed controlled. Some women may need meds to regulate blood sugar regardless though. Carbs basically banned lol

I recommend seeing a diabetes nutritionist. I have had diabetes before pregnancy, everyone is different and they can help you with an individualized meal plan.

I had it with my last and hoping to not have it again but… we shall see 🫠 last pregnancy I started just with tracking my blood glucose with finger pricks 3/4 (I can’t remember) times a day. Then once there was a trend established, I started taking metformin. Then that still wasn’t helping enough so it got bumped up in mg’s… then again.. until I was maxed out on mg’s. Then I started having to take the max of metformin AND give myself insulin shots.. then that kept getting bumped up, until I reached 37 weeks. Then I got induced bc that’s full term and my GD was considered uncontrolled. I had a nutritionist guide me on what I could and couldn’t eat/need to limit intake on (which was basically “seriously limit your carbs.” sad sad time. I love carbs 🤣) baby boy is fine and healthy now! He also had another issue during pregnancy called SUA (single umbilical artery). The diabetes was supposed to make him possibly be a bigger baby, where the SUA could possibly make him a smaller baby (plus a bunch of other issues that could’ve happened).. yet, he had absolutely no issues and was perfect ❤️
