Dating question about sex

Hi,

Why do some guys always bring up sex the first week or so of exchanging numbers?

Have anyone else experience that? I clearly tell them I would rather get to know them first and see if that is the path I want to take. Also, I tell them I do want us both to get tested when we do get to that point. I always get the “we both are grown, why should we have to wait?”

I actually believe in “soul ties” and all of these diseases out here people sleeping with multiple ppl. Am I wrong or childish for feeling this way? Also, what is the better way of responding when guys bring up sex. He actually started instantly being distance when I told him how I felt.
