How did you know you were ready to ttc?

I married my man almost 2 months ago and Ive always know how much he wants to be a dad. He also knows becoming a mom is not my dream, but at some point we had compromised and I agreed we could try for 1 when the time comes. He wants at least 2 kids so the 2nd one we can probably adopt or look for a surrogate... 1st thing's 1st. I am not completely sure now that I want to try for even the 1st. I just turned 34 not getting any younger. He is also stationed overseas for almost another yr so no baby making going on anyway. Any women felt this way before deciding to actually go for it and become a mother? Before meeting him the 2nd time 4 yrs ago (we met in college 15 yrs ago the 1st time-didnt date) my plan was to just adopt later in my 30s even if I were single. I really don't care if the kid doesn't have my DNA, but he wants a kid of his own... Men!
