My daughter (3, in daycare) can't play outside in the afternoon because my 5 year old neighbour is always right there. Apparently she's homeschooled by her mom who stays home. This kid will demand that I let her come play with my daughter. Whenever they play, she is bossy and will take things from my daughter and tell her "This is mine now". She took my daughter's hat earlier in the fall while we were walking to the mailbox. She just ran across the street and grabbed it and ran off! My daughter was so upset and I had to knock on my neighbours door to get it back. She didn't see a problem with it because I got the hat back, but I said "Your daughter ran across the street. Doesn't that concern you?"

If this kid sees us when we're in the backyard, she instantly comes outside too and bothers us through the fence. I talked to her mom about it and she says she's "working on it" but whenever it happens she doesn't do a damn thing. We can't even sit in the backyard without this kid being a nuisance. Ignoring her doesn't help because she'll climb the chain link fence and come into the yard. Another reason why we're getting a tall privacy fence built next year.

Last week, this kid walked right into my house when I was unloading groceries and took my Stanley off the table in our entryway! I told her it was rude to walk into someone's house like that and taking someone else's things is wrong. She stuck her tongue out at me and told me that "This is mine now!" I told her firmly that no, that's called stealing and I'll call the police on her if she doesn't give it back. She did give it back and went home saying "I'm telling my mom you hit me!" I said "Go ahead. I have everything on my cameras."

I texted her mom and said we need to talk about her daughter because it's getting out of hand. I told her mom that she needs to make sure her child isn't out unattended, for one, and two, her daughter is not welcome in my house. I sent her the camera footage and said, "It's a liability and if she's going to make up lies, these videos WILL be used as evidence and I WILL be going to the police."

She told me that her daughter is a child and I'm an adult so figure it out myself.

I have easily 20 incidents caught on camera and probably 20 more just written down with screenshots of my texts about each one.

I'm just so heated about everything that I don't really know what to do or if I should do anything. Other families on the block feel the same way as me and they're also at a loss. They don't want to do anything though because they feel it could cause bad blood.

So... Start getting the police involved? CPS? I get that the being a nuisance is annoying, but this kid is running around unattended without mom even having a clue where she is. Walking across the street and even into people's houses is dangerous!
