Ozempic or Bariatric Surgery
I’m looking for advice!
Background: 27 y/o, diagnosed with Hashimoto’s/undiagnosed PCOS, Pre-Diabetes and Anemia. Taking Metformin x2 daily since Apr 2024. Lost approx 25lbs since then. Currently weighing 258lbs - Ideal weight: 160-80lbs
I spoke with my endocrinologist & he gave me two options to help with my health & weight concerns. Option 1 being Ozempic, the other being Bariatric surgery. I declined Ozempic due to the cost (with insurance it’s $50/month) and the surgery would be covered under health insurance.
Now here’s my contemplation. I’ve been doing research on bariatric surgery, I see all the good that can come from it, but I don’t want to loose MORE than 100 lbs. I’m worried that being so young and not that far away from my ideal weight, this option might be too severe. Plus, I love my booty and I don’t wanna be flat! 😭
I declined Ozempic due to the price but now rethinking as I know I could potentially get under 200 at
a slow and steady rate, while also working on my health & fitness. I just worry It’s going to come back right away if I stop.
Is the price of Ozempic worth it instead of me loosing half my stomach for the rest of my life? What do you think? Let me know your thoughts!
