When are you announcing or telling older children?

I found out I’m pregnant with baby #2 due Aug 12,2025. We have a son who will be 5 in February and I don’t know when the best time to tell him is. It’s hard to keep a secret this exciting. Do I wait until 12 weeks like “typical”

I have a 6 year old and i plan to wait until near the end of the first trimester (and after a scan to confirm everything is good) as i know she will tell her entire school and their granny when she finds out. I should be 12 weeks by her birthday so might get her a "big sister" gift to tell her :)

I’m having this same dilemma because I know my 4 yr old child is going to tell everyone and their mommas lol I’m waiting until I feel comfortable with everyone knowing! she’s also been asking for sibling so I know she will be excited! I’m currently 10 wks and getting my 2nd scan soon so I think I will tell her after that so I can show an ultrasound that actually looks like something!

I had a miscarriage back in August. I was very thankful i didnt tell my son. Now pregnantagain and im not sure when its safe to tell him. Im so afraid I'll lose this one as well.

My EDD is August 13th! I have a 6 and 4 year old, I’m planning on telling them after we announce to our parents during Christmas. 
Deciding to tell them early on since they’ve been the ones asking for a baby brother or sister for the past year 😅

Go with what feels right for you and your family. Explaining a potential loss to a 5 yr old may be hard but if you feel you’re up for it if that time comes, why not tell as soon as you feel comfortable? I think I’m personally going to wait until I have an ultrasound, for family, and wait announce to our 4yr old step son when I start showing so we can explain it better. but, you do you! Do what feels right for YOU! I wish you luck 🥰

I’m with you on this! My daughter is 8 and I’m not sure when to tell her but I think I’m going to have a scan and make sure everything is okay before telling her

I’ve told mine already because they’re very young and tend to jump on me so I’ve had to explain they need to be careful of my tummy 🤣

My son is 6, and I think I will tell him after my first ultrasound at 8-9 weeks. Right now, the plan is to sneak a present under the Christmas tree for him to find when we are putting decorations away. It’ll be a big bro shirt and book from his little sibling. 😊❤️

Id wait at least for your first ultrasound pic, at most end of 1st trimester. Its so hard holding it back! I have a 6 year old and announced to her at 3 months that I was pregnant with her little sister. Now im 5weeks 2 days with her next younger sibling and its killing me not to tell her!
