All Loestrin Fe ????

so i’m taking Lo Loestrin Fe and my doctor told me to give my body a month to adjust and to wait a month before I can have unprotected sex, but I’m seeing everywhere that you’re protected after seven days and if you start it while you’re on your period you protected right away. My friend said they started having unprotected sex a week after they took birth control and they were fine, so I’m just really confused. I don’t want to take a Plan B protected sex after that?
