Not being seen untill 14wks

Is it normal to not be seen, even for a dating ultrasound, heartbeat confirm, absolutely nothing until 14weeks? And in this case, should I find a new doctor?

It’s absolutely insane to me to not be seen, confirm, or even TALK to a doctor about pregnancy until I’m in my 2nd trimester. When I called to tell them I was pregnant they told me to book an ultrasound at 12wks. That will be my very first apt for this pregnancy, at a medical imaging place, not with my doctor or OB. I’m 6wks 2 today and I’m stunned that nobody cares to even confirm the baby’s heart is beating. Previous to this I’ve been on iron treatment for anemia for 7 months so I thought there would be more concern when it comes to mine and baby’s health. I was then told my doctor is “out of town” when I’m in my estimated 12wks so they don’t have the apt w him booked until I’m 14.5 weeks. I asked if they can book it the week before and I was told hard no. What if I’m any amount “later” in pregnancy than we predict? Now we are completely unable to do certain testing. What if I go into the ultrasound tec at 12wks and they told me the baby’s heart never even started? I’m devastated and don’t know what to do. SOS
