IUD no periods but generally spotting till now.

I’ve had the hormonal IUD for 5 years I’d often have spotting but didn’t track it so don’t know if it was irregular or not, however I have stopped spotting all together, when I went to have my IUD removed the strings weren’t visible and after a pelvic scan the IUD was located higher up in my cervix. I’m still needing to organise having it removed another way but has anyone else had regular spotting then nothing?
