I think I got a coworker in trouble

Long story short I’ve only been her 4 weeks and I asked her how to do something, I did what she said, and was told it was wrong.

I told them I had be told to do it that way but won’t again. He asked who said it, I said “I think it was ____, but I may have misunderstood her. Like I said it won’t happen again. If she doesn’t do it that way then I probably mis heard her.”

He’s kinda full of himself and takes his job waaayyyy too seriously, and I’m nervous he will get mad at her. I think of her as a work friend and would hate to loose that.
