do you notice when people are nervous as they are talking?

Question

I have social anxiety and was nervous presenting at a meeting. do you notice when people are nervous when they are speaking? if yes, how? I am reallt hard on myself after being nervous speaking.

My mom told me once that everyone in the audience wants you to succeed. So a bit of nervousness is no biggy. Most people will be rooting for you through the nervousness even if they’re noticing it

I still get nervous talking in front of meetings. Then when it’s over I think it wasn’t so bad.

I get nervous at the beginning, bit of a shakey voice, say “urrr” quite a bit, but then after a few minutes I calm down, but I see this in other people in a lot in meetings I go to from all different levels of management, I honestly wouldn’t worry, some people are born to present, but it’s a very small percentage, majority of people are like you and me, and it’s kinda accepted. The more you do the better you get. I find (where applicable) keep it light hearted, drop a few funny comments in, once I see the room engage and relax I then feel better. I sometimes stutter my words a bit, so I stop and say “sorry let me put my teeth back in” everyone has a little giggle then I’m good! X

You can sometimes tell if peoples voices are shaking. But its not a big deal. Plenty of people get nervous talking in front of people. No one cares.

Only if you have a default word or saying you keep repeating to fill dead air. Truthfully I’m usually not listening on 99% of my meetings (all virtual) I read the recap notes or deck in the follow up email.
