Deciding on Anakin for a boy

I’m hoping my partner finally settles on this name. So far it’s been a nightmare in regards to the names he thinks up and my friends mom gave me the advice that we have to compromise on whatever it’s gonna be. And I agree, my partners family though seems to think I can take control and name the baby whatever I want.

I wish that was the case, however I feel like my hands are tied because my partner feels strongly he must be the one to name our child since it’s his first boy. I’m not going to dismiss his feelings just on the account of the name being “odd.” Before anakin he was attempting to name our child anime/Japanese names which I was against. This is why I’m hoping he settles on this name and I’m just relieved it’s somewhat American sounding.

FYI we are not Japanese in any shape or form he’s just a huge anime fan. And while I’m not against Japanese names it just gets to a point where it’s like our baby is gonna have to grow up with this name forever and I’m just thinking about his future.

And then his family created a group chat suggesting names. I know they are probably just as worried as I am about what the name will be so they are trying to create suggestions to change my partners mind. I appreciate the gesture but I doubt my partner will want the name to be considered “normal” and “ordinary.” I’m only conceding to this name because I’m tired of arguing and dreading giving birth because Ik he’ll be a nightmare if the name isn’t what he wants it to be.

His mom suggested the name “Rowan” and it’s a good name. It’s just not for me really, I’ve seen others name their child that name though. I had thought of Ronan initially but my partner didn’t like it so idk anakin might not be the official name tbh he changes his mind daily…I just continue to pray it’s not a name from an anime and it’s not Japanese.

I’d be ok if the name from an anime was relatively normal for an American child and hopefully I’m not offending anyone by being against a Japanese name.
