My friend's daughter has measles and luckily I noticed before we went to visit. She wasn't planning on telling us because "that's why you're vaccinated, isn't it?"
We were supposed to get together this morning and she sent a photo of her daughter eating breakfast. I said her daughter looks like she has a full body rash (she's two, eating breakfast in only a diaper). She goes "Yeah, she has measles. But you don't have to worry."
I told her that I would have liked to have known that earlier. She said why? Isn't your daughter vaccinated? I said yes she is, but she shouldn't make the assumption that it's ok for my daughter to be around hers while she's contagious. She went on a rant about how I'm living in fear and why did I get my daughter vaccinated if I'm not going to expose her to Measles?
Ooooh boy.... I said that it's common courtesy to let others know when a child is sick whether other kids are vaccinated or not. She doesn't agree. She says that vaccinating your kids makes no sense then.
I told her we would have to agree to disagree, but we won't be visiting while her daughter is contagious. She started texting and being like "Well if that's how you feel" and making passive aggressive comments.
We are not super close but would you end a friendship over this or am I overreacting?
